Third Eye Hoops - Labradorite

Third Eye Earring Hoops and labradorite. 18K Gold Heavy-Plated Sterling Silver. Handmade in Brooklyn, NY.

About the stone:

Labradorite is a member of the Feldspar family and is treasured for its remarkable play of color, known as labradorescence. The stone, usually a smoky quartz-looking gray-green, dark gray, black or grayish-white, is composed in aggregate layers that refract light as iridescent flashes of peacock blue, gold, or pale green.

Labradorite is named after the peninsula of Labrador in Canada, where it was first discovered in 1770. According to an Inuit legend, the Northern Lights are captured in the minerals on the coast of Labrador. The most impressive pieces are mined in Finland and Madagascar.

How long your pieces last depends on how often you wear it, as well as the PH of your skin, exposure to chemicals, and frequent rubbing again other surfaces. Here are some ways to extend the life of your jewellery:

Wash your hands before putting on or taking off.

Put on jewellery after you’ve applied lotion, perfume or makeup.

Take off your rings or bracelets before chopping tomatoes or doing dishes.

Avoid rubbing bracelets and necklaces against each other. Try to prevent rings from banging into counter tops and rubbing against other metal parts (such as keys) buried in pockets and purses.

Don’t swim in your jewellery or wear it when you’ll be sweating profusely

Clean your jewellery gently with a soft cloth and store it in a pouch separate from other jewellery so as to keep it free from oxidizing elements.

These earrings come in a canvas drawstring bag and gift box.
